With all that’s been going on lately, my dreams have been more vivid than ever. So I revoked the power of an old tradition between my grandfather & I & started noting a dream journal of sorts again. In a recent dream journey, a woman told me “Beyond the forest path, there lies another world.” So that was the inspiration behind this title & that is exactly the direction I followed.
The ocean has long been a companion of mine throughout life. With the weather changing and my son getting older, he is starting to show interest in some of these same aquatic activities. I’ve been shuffling around more home decor and greetings designs, some of which have to do with children’s rooms and seasonal decorative pieces. This all had me thinking of underwater themes I’ve done in the past. These sea turtles started from sketches, but I plan to have a few more of them appear in some of my newer designs these next few months.
During the sort of stitching together done with this piece I explored using a custom texture effect I created that mimics concrete. For some random reason my mind wandered off thinking of fossils and imprints while experimenting with the textures. All of it had me pondering of how some memories never fade and how certain (although few) things in life stand the test of time.
What’s something that has stood the “test of time” for you?
It freakishly feels like a mixture of fall and winter around here lately. My area has snow predicted for today. Yet the determined little spring flowers around here keep hangin’ in there and growing. I was inspired by their mild wind dance during the week, so they’ve been popping up everywhere in my work.
During spring, it’s amazing how you can see a bright span of colors even on a gray day.
Have you spotted any color amongst the gray/grey lately?
This photo-artsy floral was inspired by a fancy centerpiece I accidentally broke once upon a time. Rumor had it this was an expensive little number. I stayed quiet about it most of the day until I became swallowed by guilt and confessed.
Have you ever broken something expensive? Does guilt tell on you too?
