While most of you wait until October to see some of my horror-inspired designs, I remind you that horror is where my love for art and design began.
With a string of vivid dreams and nightmares lately, it’s no surprise I took a break from my tradition of spring floral sets to work on a horror piece.
My personal life has my career feeling like bloodletting lately. My love for art has not left me, however, the strain of having to design on a schedule has been a nightmare. Art has been a cathartic release, even if the scheduling causes me pain.
Financial stresses make operation a lot more difficult as well. As always, we will see what the cards hold.
We are currently undergoing maintenance, making some more changes to the site, and have a lot going on behind the curtain.
We will be away for a while during the holidays and will miss you all terribly, so we are leaving you this greeting as a parting gift.
While CardCastles will remain down until around the first week of January, we will still be maintaining our art services during downtime. We have some sales going on you can find out about through our social media pages and through our CONTACT page here on site.
Any questions can be sent to Snapping Turtle through our contact page here or by calling us directly. Greeting card prints will be available all throughout the holiday season.
“Your beloved Daydreams isn’t here right now. She appears to be…all tied up. I just may get cozy here. Yes, yes…I could get used to this.”
“When I came to my head was throbbing. Didn’t quite know what to make of it all. I was frightened—and cold. She was no longer here. Maybe that protection spell I cast on the gates finally took. I’m sure it won’t ward her off for long, though.”
We were not so sure about doing this whole thing again this year. There is a whole fresh hell of a lot going on behind the scenes. These circumstances have made it difficult on this trip. I apologize for not keeping up our tradition of ending this thing with a video. Some personal matters kept that footage from ever being shot & uploaded.
Despite those somber notes, we hope you had fun through each of the 31 days and nights. Will we do this again next year? Well, you’ve managed to talk me into it each year again since we started back in 2015. We shall just have to wait and see.
On behalf of Snapping Turtle Arts, I would like to thank Dean Kealy, Michael Patrick, and Bill Friday for joining us and lending their magnificent talents.
To the horror lovers here and overseas
We are so appreciative of all of you. Thank you for stopping in on each day! None of this would have gone down this year without your loving support and encouragement!
To my mentors
I saw you here lurking about. 😉 It means the world to me and my little family that some of you still care. We’ll try to put on a bigger show if we go at this thing again next year.
To our friends and family
Thank you for holding our hands when times get rough.
Life has dealt an interesting last few weeks to say the least. When you’re used to having doctor’s appointments every weekend for about a month and a half, it can be difficult to adjust back to schedule. One of the things I’ve always liked with being in business for yourself and “being your own boss” so to speak, is–I get to make my own hours. However, I noticed in recent weeks I rarely take advantage of this occupation’s gem.
This Sunday, though, I’m taking full advantage of this perk, as I have a lot coming up here to plan for. We currently have aBack to Schoolsale running all month of September that we’re thinking of extending until the end of November. Along with that, we’re mapping out the lineup for 31Nightmares this year in October, as well as some other events.
This wall art design was inspired by a scene I witnessed a few weeks ago upon leaving the hospital as August drew to a close.
Hope you are all having an amazing weekend! Much more to come.
Greetings, my darlings. It has certainly been a while. If you’ve been curious as to where your girl Daydreams has been, please check up on my latest Daydreams Diary or you could always follow on Twitter or Instagram (links in the sidebar) for more timely updates.
This design is my first attempt back into the world of concept art. Although I’ve only been away for about a month, you’d be surprised how rusty I’ve become. Despite all that, I’m going to be hitting the ground running this month due to a recent need to make my services available to a much wider audience of clients. You will likely be seeing an expansion of Snapping Turtle happening here at CardCastles and lots of promo material.
I’m not sure yet what this design is going to be used for and it will likely be very brushed up before it hits a client’s hands. Whatever the case, I was happy to create this little surrealistic landscape after being away from the art world for what felt like aeons.
Have you missed seeing these designs here? What have you been up to while I was away? Do tell. You know I love a good coffee chat.
