31 Nightmares 2017: The 29th

There were strange sights I saw as a child while on a trip with family members. For years those strange thoughts from that night as a child combined with my imagination, have crept into my nightmares and later, my designs. This is one of them. I’ve decided to make it into a horror/sci-fi crossover for my fall collection. This will be a template for wall art and fits TV screens as well.

Sleepy Sundays: Light Work

Light Work © 2017 Snapping Turtle Publishing | cardcastlesinthesky.com

The running theme for this month among family, friends, and colleagues seems to be that our passions bring us peace of mind. We all go through our trials in life. Some days even harder than the next. Though if you’re working towards or doing something you love, a little light work makes the lights work.

—And not just the lights in the house.

*This custom piece was designed for a friend of mine who’s also a *divine* lady that’s always added a little sparkle to my day.

What brightens your lights lately?

Have a beautiful Sunday!

Sleepy Sundays: Halls and Walls

This weekend I flashed back to a conversation had with my sister a few weeks back about our mother and how even though we have different fathers, we still have so many of the same personality traits, and quirks because of our mother.

Our mother was a fashion lover. After that conversation, the whole week things about her kept popping up in my dreams. These wall design concepts were inspired by her.

What memories seem to recur in your dreams?

Have a dreamy Sunday!

Sleepy Sundays: Lifeline

Lifeline
Lifeline

If there’s one theme that’s been consistent diving into this new year it’s been that my friends continue to be my largest support system. One of my closest friends and I were sending texts back and forth while I set up the next few months worth of designs. I’ve got some very large projects launching, releasing, and being revealed collectively soon. He proceeded to push me every step of the way & kept encouraging me that my artwork is worthy of great heights.

In rough and trying times, along with the general busy chaos that is my generation’s adult lives I’m so damn grateful to have friends like that who grab me by the shoulders and say “You’re doing a great job! So frigin’ relax!”

You are my lifeline, friends. Keep inspiring people with your ability to love.

While I created this I listened to this:

What is your lifeline?

Have an electric Sunday!

Sand Serpents

In my early twenties, I once experienced a strange nightmare like none other. I was in some gorgeous desert land where the sun seemed to create glitter in the sand. In some places there, the sand even appeared gold.

Although this dwelling’s beauty masked something sinister. There was an underground area that housed human-eating sand serpents. Their origin was apparently something ancient according to locals in the dream. I have no idea why I was there but was always fascinated by the scenery. That place has inspired many of my artworks to this day.
