31 Nightmares 2017: The 13th

Alright, horror lovers!

It’s Friday the 13th!

So we’re doing a little something special to close this week of “behind the scenes” talk.

We’ve done many tributes to those we lost this year. Today I’d like to honor someone that’s still here and very much a force at work in the horror genre. His name is Mr. Tom Savini if you’re familiar with his work, then you know exactly why we’re talking about him today.

Tom has a lot of experience in the film industry from being behind the camera directing, to his fascinating work with special effects, and even some acting sprinkled here and there.

His name has come up so many times this year amongst friends and we still continue to be enamored with this man’s work. Tom has a special effect academy that you can access through his website if you’re interested in getting into the field. Even if you’re not interested in the field, it’s worth checking out.

This has been Day 13

In Loving Memory of a Legend

I am saddened to learn that this is true, waking up to this news and hearing confirmed reports around the globe.

I only just wished a happy birthday the other day as it passed, and bought my son Labyrinth for Christmas.

We posted this story back in August when my son’s birthday arrived:

We Could Be Heroes
His talent will certainly be missed.

I Don’t Wanna Grow Up

Every time I hear about a death of another legend, I feel older and closer to death myself. I was deeply saddened yesterday by news that drummer Tommy Ramone of The Ramones died Friday. He was the last original member of the band to go. They will be missed by all that enjoyed them. Through the music, they will no doubt live on.

It’s a sobering thought of how quickly life goes. Strangely enough, I just briefly mentioned them in a May Sleepy Sundays post.

I don’t wanna grow up.
