Sleepy Sundays: April Showers

This weekend I’m adding to the new gallery with something old and a few much newer creations. The photos are from the early and mid 90s, and most of the artwork is from this year. They are proving to be great additions for the spring season and this holiday weekend around this region.

Feel free to take a browse as I continue to move new and older items from Snapping Turtle over to here at its new home at CardCastles in the clouds. 🙂

Have a relaxing Sunday!

Sleepy Sundays: Heart Stream

Heart Stream

Way back when artwork was sold here as home decor & greetings, Valentine’s Day cards and greeting card designs became sort of a tradition here every year. This one was designed with watercolor effects in mind. I decided to make it into a simple patterned greeting. Sometimes less is more. I love these colors so I just might keep this one and add it to the growing new gallery.

Have a light-hearted Sunday!

Sleepy Sundays: Oh So Quiet

[Click images for higher res. versions]

I’m sharing two artworks again today to make up for some lost time. The future is a bit uncertain. I’m in a tremendous amount of pain as I type this, so I’ll keep this short.

I hope those of you that celebrate holidays around this time of year are all having a peaceful time among friends and/or family.

For those of you that aren’t, I simply wish you love, and some peace of mind.

Have a restful Sunday

The Lift

I can be impulsive.

Those of you that know me are no strangers to that.

A few days back I posted a “Shutdown Notice” of sorts closing down the site, my services, and all of the CardCastles social media accounts.

Wintery

I’ve never seen the Stats for this place spike so high. Oh, it certainly wasn’t because folks were concerned, I assure you. Not over 500+ in less than an hour. No, my close friends and core group know where to reach me & certainly wouldn’t spam the buttons here to do so.

That spike was likely due to people that cannot wait to see me fall on my face.

Although my health is indeed dwindling, I still have hope.

“The audacity of hope!” – President Barack Obama

Hope is something I tend to cling to with all of my being.
After all, I’ve always been like a cat with nine lives, and well, hell, I’m just not that easy to kill.

When I left, there was a guilt I felt because I’m trying to build this business even larger than it already is. My goal is to stack it into something that can eventually help my family and friends. Due to groundwork I laid out earlier this year, I’m already halfway there.

So, I can’t really just stop now. Even though I certainly felt the need to for a while.

Over the last few days, I got to see how much I really am appreciated, however silently, it’s still appreciation, and it matters. You filled my inboxes, my DMs, tweeted out little playlists for me. (One of my potential future moderators who you’ll soon hopefully be meeting shared all of this with me while I was away. We both had a good laugh about how I couldn’t leave this place if I tried.)

One last thing pushed me back here beside all that.

Wild Card

I thought of someone I care about who is going through my exact same struggle right now. She hasn’t stopped her magic for one minute. Even with all she has on her plate, and doing every bit of it while in pain, she hasn’t thrown in the towel. She’s still going.

That inspires me. That’s a strength I’ve only seen in one other place—through the women in my own family, particularly, my late mother.

So while I had my time to sit and sob

and even though the holidays are draining every last bit of sanity I have left

I

can’t

stop.

After all, I am a creator.

And

We’re all mad here.

Sleepy Sundays: Greet

Two more additions for The Holiday Collection this week. I’m not a fan of using fonts in my work, unless I design said fonts myself. These greeting card designs are exceptions. I’m much busier closing out some book cover projects, along with planning a move from my current location. There was a need to push these out fast. The fonts helped save me some much-needed extra time. Hope you enjoy them! Just trying to spread some cheer in these dismal times we are living in.

What do you do to take your mind off the madness?

Have a cheer-filled Sunday!

Sleepy Sundays: Time Froze

Time Froze

Out with the old & in with the new as they say.
Just who is ‘they’ anyway? They is always changing.

Anyway, random thoughts aside, let’s frolic along toward the wonder that is The Holiday Collection now moving over to CardCastles. This is the first entry to move over there today. It’s going to serve as part of the greeting cards section of this collection.

The Holiday Collection was a hit when I first opened the Snapping Turtle gallery. Now that it’s all moving here to my main site, you can reach every new addition here as it’s added. We add festive pieces this time of year, but we add all sorts of holidays all year long, and even take requests for custom messages.

If you’re feeling nostalgic and want to visit the (filled) old Holiday Collection at the old gallery, give it one last look here before it closes.

Are you already getting ready for the holiday season? What holidays do you celebrate?

Have a pleasant Sunday!

Sleepy Sundays: Vibrant

Vibrant
Vibrant

This design was inspired by some of the bright colors I’ve been seeing so far this season. Some were sprinkled across flowers, others were on someone’s dress, some may have been on the walls. All of it reminded me of family and friends and a time when things were simpler, when we all sat down in the spring during a family holiday.

What colors remind you of spring? Will you be gathering somewhere this weekend?

& To all celebrating:

Happy Easter Sunday from CardCastlesInTheSky.

Have a peaceful Sunday!

Some Kind of Luck

clovers

I’ve never believed much in luck, but I often joke about it with friends.

“I have about as much luck as Al Bundy.”

Yet there’s been some seemingly lucky things happening around here lately. clovers

The Erratic Sun

The Erratic Sun has been published! Even better, Matticus is hosting a contest over at The Matticus Kingdom where ultimately, an autographed copy the book is the prize!

Sign up for a chance at this fantastic Sci-Fi adventure!

#StoriesBaby

Early this morning, our Stories Family welcomed a baby!

A huge Congrats to our “Don BroJo”, we are all SO happy for you and your family. After all we’ve been through together as a group and individually, moments like this make it all worth it. 🙂

Art by Glorious Mettle Trending on CardCastles!

After going over stat reports across CardCastles and its now various hubs this morning, I realized Glorious Mettle, my dear friend’s artwork is trending! She was among the most clicked on & visited this month, along with The Erratic Sun and my Dreamscape piece.

Glori’s artwork is still blowing up CardCastles social media stats! So Congrats to my gal Glorious Mettle! I wish you many art sales & lots of love!

Behind the scenes there’s been plenty of chatter of more collaborations. This only gives me a positive attitude going into spring. I’ve got plenty more up my sleeves in the coming months.

AND

Beautiful Nightmares

If you haven’t heard…

It’s confirmed. I’ll be resurrecting #31Nightmares in tribute to Wes Craven again this October.

31 Nightmares
#31 Nightmares Series
Due to popular demand, and a rewarding experience, I decided to bring this wonderful series back again for another year. One of my childhood idols, a horror film icon, found me this way, and I almost feel like I have to make him and Wes very proud this year. Expect a big celebration!

Sleepy Sundays: Love Song

Now I know there are a bunch of you out there that roll your eyes at the thought of Valentine’s Day. I get it. The entire thing has become one big commercialized “buy your lady this fancy ring, or buy your guy this electronic device/car/whatever” mess.

We forget one thing. It’s a holiday about love. Not necessarily the type of love generated by a couple, but love in general.

One of the greatest loves I ever had the pleasure of witnessing was that of my own parents.

As some of you know, they both passed on before I reached my 21st birthday, but my memories of them are still clear as day.

This was their wedding song:

It’s still a favorite song of mine. Play this one for me today.

—in the name of love.

Do you have a favorite love song?

Have a Happy Valentine’s Day Sunday!
