Cheers to 6 Years

It has been six whole years today since CardCastles first opened its virtual doors.
We started off from humble beginnings. This place has come a very long way after completing an equally extensive journey. We have shared so many memories with you as a family through my artwork and journals, and that spawned off into even more beautiful things. We have enjoyed this trek amongst the stars in the sky with you, so much so it gave birth to new worlds and a parent company. Snapping Turtle was born out of love. New ventures it seeks as it now takes over the clouds and we transition through the full merge.

So much more planned for the rest of this year. & For however long we keep this going.

As, always it has been a fantastic ride with you.

Keep dreaming. 😉

Sleepy Sundays: April Showers

This weekend I’m adding to the new gallery with something old and a few much newer creations. The photos are from the early and mid 90s, and most of the artwork is from this year. They are proving to be great additions for the spring season and this holiday weekend around this region.

Feel free to take a browse as I continue to move new and older items from Snapping Turtle over to here at its new home at CardCastles in the clouds. 🙂

Have a relaxing Sunday!

CardCastles Artist Spotlight: November 2017

“It’s been a while since we got to do one of these and I’m happy that I decided to bring this series back as Snapping Turtle is now moving in.

Over the years working with Snapping Turtle and having my services available there, I’ve gotten to meet, talk to, interact with some wonderful people a lot of which have artistic and creative talents of their own. What branched was an art community of beautiful sorts.”

— J. “Daydreams”

concept artist

Some of my friends/clients/family/those in my network have businesses and ventures of their own.

Today during this CC Artist Spotlight I’d like to highlight a handful of these creatives for all what it’s worth.

And that’s everything.

After a long while,

I’m pleased to be promoting fellow artists and creatives here yet again.

Jessie Stevens and Madhawi Karaya

You can find out more about both of these lovely ladies by clicking on either one of their names. What we’re highlighting today here at CardCastles is their beautiful book that was a collaborative effort of both of their artistic talents.

Originally a fan of this next entry, Oschino Vasquez is someone in my network I spoke to a few times through Instagram and he is extremely down to earth, immensely multi-talented, like a lot I’ve known from the Philly area.

Many don’t know Oschino outside of his work with Jay-Z and the Roc-a-Fella crew, State Property, O is also a talented artist.

His artwork is the business below we are spotlighting today.

I’ve gotten to know Monique through my network for a little under a year, I think, correct me if I’m wrong, but she has been a ray of sunshine any time I’ve spoken to her. & She is quite a beautiful human being. Go follow her on social media if you aren’t already to see what I mean. She is quite the multi-talent as well!

Today I’m highlighting Monique’s gorgeous store.

Go shop around!

Sleepy Sundays: Unity

Unity © 2017 Snapping Turtle Arts & Publishing | cardcastlesinthesky.com
We had a busy week here at home and a crazier few weeks in the nation and world as a whole. Aside from my personal life, I’m managing and still enjoying extra time with my son for the summer.

Despite a positive outlook on my home and work life for now, due to the major events going on in the world you could feel tension in the air.

It all came to a halt briefly after a storm yesterday afternoon when my son shouted out,

“The sky is yellow, Mom!!”

He was so excited. Beyond elated. He rushed me to the window. We had just had a very violent thunderstorm. We’ve been getting a lot of them in my area this summer. Though this one particularly unique. Not only did the sky turn yellow after it stopped, due to the sun setting and the high humidity, but in almost a perfect dome-like shape there stood a spectacular double (almost triple, but the last one was faded) rainbow.

We ran outside in the remainder of the drizzle to snap a few photos. What we soon saw was a short moment that brought everyone out of there houses with smiles. For just a few minutes, it brought the neighborhood out. Together. Smiling. It was a warm feeling that gave us hope. Hope despite troubling times. Though it was small and in a no way a sign that all horrible things will simply fade away, it was something special, still.

I blended the photos into some digital templates like the one you see here. I plan on using them for greeting cards.

Our local news caught a gorgeous shot of this same rainbow outside of their studio as well.

What brings you together with others?

Have a peaceful Sunday!

Sleepy Sundays: Time Warped

Time Warped

Every once in a while I get a neat request from a friend or someone they know to step outside of the norm. These are usually my favorite types of designs to work on. This weekend I got a request from an old friend to do something really funky for a wedding invite. She said to go nuts and make it very surreal bordering on sci-fi. The twist was to somehow work it in with white flowers, which goes with her theme.

The great news is she loves this design. I’m thinking of using it for future designs as well.

When was the last time you got to let loose?

Have a bright Sunday!
