This photo-artsy floral was inspired by a fancy centerpiece I accidentally broke once upon a time. Rumor had it this was an expensive little number. I stayed quiet about it most of the day until I became swallowed by guilt and confessed.
Have you ever broken something expensive? Does guilt tell on you too?
Have a peaceful Sunday!
My apologies go out to those of you that usually have your Sunday morning coffee here at CardCastles. Daylight Savings has my internal clock a bit off today so this Sleepy Sundays post is a bit later than usual.
Sleeping issues aside, I have a special treat for long-time readers here this Sunday. If you’ve read Mother’s Day Marigold and Brand New Friends, then the photo above may look a bit familiar to you. That’s because the tiny bloom pictured above is the “child” of the last one.
It was suggested by a friend to save the seeds of the original plant when they began to drop. Sadly, late last year, after almost two years, the old plant withered away and died. Then, early this year, something magical happened. A new little sprout began to flourish.
Monday of this week brought an even bigger surprise. Our tiny spout had grown and a flower began to show. Two days ago, it opened up to touch the sun. I got all sentimental. Wouldn’t you?
Someone joked that I may take this plant everywhere we move from now on, much like Leon from The Professional. I always liked him anyway.
Do you have something special that has stood the test of time?
Have a growing Sunday!

If you’ve read my previous post, you know it hasn’t been a pleasant week in DaydreamsLand. Life has a way of showing you a silver lining in every gray sky, though. After a trying and exhausting Saturday, on our way back from filling up on cleaning supplies an old favorite song of mine came on the radio. It was like some force out there knew exactly how we were feeling and our need to hear it.
So, with that said, I figured that song would be the perfect choice for the music to go along with this little snapshot.
Has a song ever popped on at the exact right moment for you? Share your stories. You know I love a good coffee chat.
Have a sedated Sunday!
It’s been a while since photos have made an appearance on our Sleepy Sundays. This weekend I’ll be sharing two versions of the same photo. Initially, I wasn’t happy with how this one pictured above came out. I loved the colors but the zoom I used chopped up the resolution because I wasn’t using a high-quality camera at the time. So, what’s a girl to do when she has something every Sunday to share with you?
I got to tinkering.
Although I still love the colors of the original, this one has a cleaner look to it. Kind of has a vintage feel, doesn’t it? I’ll let you be the judge, jury, and executioner on this one.
Which picture do you like the most? What are your favorite signs of spring?
Have a special Sunday!
Still life is actually a form of art defined as an observation or representation of something still; inanimate. I chose that name for this piece as well since it just seemed to fit. When I first learned how to paint and sketch, still life was my stepping stone to everything else. Flowers were always my favorite subjects. Sometimes I just go where my hands take me.
What is your favorite thing to doodle?
Have a still Sunday!
You may remember my talk of the gift that gave back on Mother’s Day. My son came home with just a simple, tiny sprout, much like himself. It needed much care and attention but it has grown. What a beautiful group of flowers it has budded into now!
Inspired by my little one and his touching gift, I’ve put up this little slideshow gallery for you to enjoy today.
The sun caught these little lovlies so nicely I just had to share it with all of you.
I took a few of these but this one outshines the others.
Do you have a favorite spot you like to go clear your head?
