Sleepy Sundays: Skyway to Summer

Skyway to Summer

This weekend our family had some much-needed time away relaxing and catching up with family. It was so renewing just to see some friendly faces and chat it up with those I love and haven’t seen in a while. If ever there was a perfect day for an outdoor gathering, this weekend managed to crank out a few.

Even though I thoroughly enjoyed everyone’s company , the wanderer in me couldn’t help but sneak away for a quick stroll down the block. I was dazzled by what almost summer had to offer down this quiet little street. Hues of deep pinks and oranges, and yellows, all dotted the area. Down one particular intersection, a line of trees sat that seemed to go on for days.

The whole time was like one big rejuvenation of the mind, body, and soul. There’s no doubt that my family and nature itself found its way into my designs this week because of this.

What replenishes you?

Have a peaceful Sunday!

Sleepy Sundays: A Slight Touch of Autumn

Whenever we feel a slight chill in the air, my son says “Is it changing over to fall?”

This is a welcome question in my son’s arsenal of ever-growing queries. Usually he’s correct. The same air that is responsible for a slight nose- run will soon transform the leaves on the trees into different colors.

On the weekend, we decided to take a little road trip. We got to see the evidence of such queries sprinkled about the trees.

It’s a welcome question because it sparks in me traditions that perhaps have long been forgotten in my family, yet somehow, I’ve managed to carry them on. As soon as the cold air rolls in, my windows open up. You can smell all sorts of apples and cookies baking. In October and November, you’ll often see pumpkins somewhere in my home.

What I noticed over the weekend took me on a trip down Memory Lane. I realized how much at times we really are like our family, despite liking it or not. We are them and they are us in many ways and sometimes perhaps that is why we carry on tradition. Approaching fall I remember my family. When it was full and many of them were still alive, us gathered around the table at some family function seafood and pasta. The long drives oftentimes down to the shore. Some fancy meal often cooked up by many or just one member of us. The aroma of some great food, the sound of some laughter, and hefty conversation all play back through my mind.

I’m beyond grateful we’re able to carry some of these old times on.

Do you carry on any old family traditions?

Have a love-filled Sunday!

Sleepy Sundays: Vibrant

Vibrant

This design was inspired by some of the bright colors I’ve been seeing so far this season. Some were sprinkled across flowers, others were on someone’s dress, some may have been on the walls. All of it reminded me of family and friends and a time when things were simpler, when we all sat down in the spring during a family holiday.

What colors remind you of spring? Will you be gathering somewhere this weekend?

& To all celebrating:

Happy Easter Sunday from CardCastlesInTheSky.

Have a peaceful Sunday!

Sleepy Sundays: Strung

Strung

The chaos of the modern-day holiday season can leave us temporarily high-strung and packed with anxiety.

I’m lucky that even though this season I may have been this brand of high-strung, I’m strung together with people I love.

Do you get stressed out planning for holidays? Does your family or friends circle make homemade ornaments?

Have a shining Sunday!
