Ascent

We are turning a new corner here at CardCastles and would like you to join us.

Plans are in the works for quite a few changes in the upcoming months. We will no longer be doing our regular #SleepySundays posts for the remainder or the year.

We are also unsure if we will be resurrecting #31Nightmares for this upcoming October. This will depend largely on community demand.

These pauses are for good reason. We are working on something much bigger as a team here at home for the future of our business, Snapping Turtle, that has been playing a larger role here these past few years.

I am also individually working on three book-related projects the rest of this summer, and likely into the fall.

We will certainly miss the old traditions for a while, but times, they are a-changin’ —and with it, so are we.

Updates will come as these changes go into effect. We thank you for your continued support. Keep an eye on our social media accounts for news about upcoming diaries and anything else as we near the end of this summer.

7 Years

It’s been 7 years since we put the first card in the sky.

So much has changed.

We almost had to close between this year and last. Somehow, running on miracles, we were able to save this place. &While things are still somewhat uncertain, I am grateful for this opportunity to continue what we are trying to build on.

Thanks for flying with us.

Summer Touchdown

I’ve been working on some new collections lately. One of these series pieces is designed specifically for wall art, but I’m sure can still be used as a template for other designs.

This artwork is one of the newest in that series. Proud to give it a space here at CardCastles. Let me know if you deem it worthy.

We have some great news.

#SleepySundays will resume this Sunday as well as our annual anniversary traditions in July.

I could not be more ecstatic that we can get back to business here at our little home in the clouds. More details soon.

Sleepy Sundays: Bloodletting

Bloodletting ©️2019 Snapping Turtle Arts | cardcastlesinthesky.com

While most of you wait until October to see some of my horror-inspired designs, I remind you that horror is where my love for art and design began.

With a string of vivid dreams and nightmares lately, it’s no surprise I took a break from my tradition of spring floral sets to work on a horror piece.

My personal life has my career feeling like bloodletting lately. My love for art has not left me, however, the strain of having to design on a schedule has been a nightmare. Art has been a cathartic release, even if the scheduling causes me pain.

Financial stresses make operation a lot more difficult as well. As always, we will see what the cards hold.

Have a relaxing Sunday

31 Nightmares 2018: The 29th

“Her bitterness. It envelopes me if I let it. Where did she come from? She wasn’t always there. So many questions.

I’m curious about her. Though, not too curious. She seems to feed off of that.

There is one thing. A clue, perhaps.

Maybe it will explain this whole thing. Though, I don’t yet know what it means.

She left a note for me on the mirror. The words on the paper were burned in.

It read:

“You are me and I am you.”

I could never be her. Right? RIGHT?

I don’t know what it all MEANS!”

31 Nightmares 2018: The 28th

There’s been a tear through our world again. I’m not sure what it means this time. She left a stench on my soul. I feel her near lately now more than ever. Though we’ve binded her for now. I wonder why she’s near. I wonder if she’ll return. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Day 28

of

31 Nightmares 2018: The 1st

It’s been three years now since we first began this series. Now, becoming a sort of tradition backed by horror-loving demand,

31 Nightmares

has returned.

When we first started this madness in 2015, we did so in tribute to man whose life has touched so many in their respective fields. That man is Mr. Wes Craven, and you can read about how this series got its start here. Since then, it has grown into much more—a gathering of us horror heads, if you will.

For now, my Snapping Turtle family would simply like to welcome you here. Don’t forget! CardCastles Terms apply here during this event as well as across all social media accounts. We’ve got some guests coming up while we waltz through each day and night. Please be kind. We don’t want to have to feed you to our guards.

Love,

Daydreams

If you are into the world of special effects like we are here at home, there is someone I highly recommend following that we haven’t mentioned before.

His name is Kevin Yagher

and his Instagram account can be found below.

I had already been familiar with Kevin’s work from hearing his name floated around horror circles. What I didn’t know was the sheer number of things Mr. Yagher has worked on. If you do a little digging, you’ll find out this man’s trail of past work is seriously impressive.

One of the highlights worth mentioning is recently Kevin started selling some of his work as well:

How cool is that?
