31 Nightmares 2018: The 10th

Today we have special guests as part of our #31Nightmares

Please welcome Michael Patrick and his cheetah to the clouds.

Below is their contribution to our madness.

Enjoy Silver!

Happy Haunts!

Silver

The night falls around me as I look outside soft chirps fill the air and the summer sky is charged

with electricity.

My family shuffles his feet up and down the stairs I wonder if he is aware of the danger I am trying to tell him about without scaring him

He frightens easily and often times I have to lay him down and comfort him I am aware of what scares him even if never his demon I have yet seen.

I stand guard on many nights while he dreams and fights the darkness.

No one will hurt him, not even the Devil himself dare try me.

My energy runs low and I softly walk to my Family and gently shake him.

It is time for us to switch now, time for him to wake and time for me to run down and catch the sunbeams.

I sure hope my Family catches the silver glint before it expands and threatens us all.

He has never let me down as he shuffles once again down the stairs.

•Paladin Sullivan as told to Michael Patrick

31 Nightmares 2018: The 1st

It’s been three years now since we first began this series. Now, becoming a sort of tradition backed by horror-loving demand,

31 Nightmares

has returned.

When we first started this madness in 2015, we did so in tribute to man whose life has touched so many in their respective fields. That man is Mr. Wes Craven, and you can read about how this series got its start here. Since then, it has grown into much more—a gathering of us horror heads, if you will.

For now, my Snapping Turtle family would simply like to welcome you here. Don’t forget! CardCastles Terms apply here during this event as well as across all social media accounts. We’ve got some guests coming up while we waltz through each day and night. Please be kind. We don’t want to have to feed you to our guards.

Love,

Daydreams

If you are into the world of special effects like we are here at home, there is someone I highly recommend following that we haven’t mentioned before.

His name is Kevin Yagher

and his Instagram account can be found below.

https://www.instagram.com/yagherfx/

I had already been familiar with Kevin’s work from hearing his name floated around horror circles. What I didn’t know was the sheer number of things Mr. Yagher has worked on. If you do a little digging, you’ll find out this man’s trail of past work is seriously impressive.

One of the highlights worth mentioning is recently Kevin started selling some of his work as well:

How cool is that?

CardCastles Artist Spotlight: November 2017

“It’s been a while since we got to do one of these and I’m happy that I decided to bring this series back as Snapping Turtle is now moving in.

Over the years working with Snapping Turtle and having my services available there, I’ve gotten to meet, talk to, interact with some wonderful people a lot of which have artistic and creative talents of their own. What branched was an art community of beautiful sorts.”

— J. “Daydreams”

concept artist

Some of my friends/clients/family/those in my network have businesses and ventures of their own.

Today during this CC Artist Spotlight I’d like to highlight a handful of these creatives for all what it’s worth.

And that’s everything.

After a long while,

I’m pleased to be promoting fellow artists and creatives here yet again.

Jessie Stevens and Madhawi Karaya

You can find out more about both of these lovely ladies by clicking on either one of their names. What we’re highlighting today here at CardCastles is their beautiful book that was a collaborative effort of both of their artistic talents.

Originally a fan of this next entry, Oschino Vasquez is someone in my network I spoke to a few times through Instagram and he is extremely down to earth, immensely multi-talented, like a lot I’ve known from the Philly area.

Many don’t know Oschino outside of his work with Jay-Z and the Roc-a-Fella crew, State Property, O is also a talented artist.

His artwork is the business below we are spotlighting today.

I’ve gotten to know Monique through my network for a little under a year, I think, correct me if I’m wrong, but she has been a ray of sunshine any time I’ve spoken to her. & She is quite a beautiful human being. Go follow her on social media if you aren’t already to see what I mean. She is quite the multi-talent as well!

Today I’m highlighting Monique’s gorgeous store.

Go shop around!

31 Nightmares 2017: The 31st

Well, horror lovers,

We’ve reached another end to our nightmares. Will they be back again? We’ll just have to wait and see. We’ve had some hurdles but it’s all been worth it.

Enjoy this short video message as a token of my appreciation.

Special Thanks

First and foremost we would like to thank our very supportive family members that helped make some of this possible. To our friends, thank you for rooting for this event even when our hearts weren’t in it at certain points this year.

To the horror lovers:

None of this would be possible without you!! You clammered for this event’s return until we gave in.

To our Twitter Family and #TWDFamily members – we appreciate your overwhelming kindness & interaction with us. You’ve helped drive some horror fans our way and we are forever grateful to all of you for that!!

To our guests Michael Patrick and Bill Friday – We thank you for your courage to share and your wonderful contributions to the event this year.

To our mentors, your advice has been priceless at times when we desperately needed it.

& Last but most certainly not least, thank all of you reading that have shared these on social media, cheered us on, and just generally made this event more fun for us to host.

We love all of you.

31 Nightmares 2017: The 29th

There were strange sights I saw as a child while on a trip with family members. For years those strange thoughts from that night as a child combined with my imagination, have crept into my nightmares and later, my designs. This is one of them. I’ve decided to make it into a horror/sci-fi crossover for my fall collection. This will be a template for wall art and fits TV screens as well.

Thank you all for your kind words, patience (due to our shift in schedule from day-to-night), & support as we shift the clouds about during this event. Your enthusiasm is as always much appreciated. 🙂

31 Nightmares 2017: The 28th

We’ve talked a lot about the importance of sound & music in horror when it comes to television, movies, and video games. The topic is sprinkled about throughout these years of doing #31Nightmares.

Along with soundtracks and sound effects, recently I came across a wonderfully haunting theme that belongs to a show.

We are nearing the end of our nightmarish journey. Still more to come. We hope you’ve enjoyed this October with us here at cardcastlesinthesky.com

Some things are better left untouched. If I were to tell the story behind this distorted face, hardly anyone would believe it. Maybe it’s best we keep pretending it’s fiction…for now.
