Some of you know a few months back I was in the hospital with some serious issues to contend with. My body was fighting with toxicity and trying to heal around the same time. As you could imagine, this made a few of those nights that followed full of bad dreams.
This is one of the faces spotted in those other realms of my nightmares. I later made it into a character sketch. From there, the mysterious face later became one of my early concepts for a character design. If any of my game/film industry people are reading, I think he might make a great monster of sorts for one of your stories. 🙂
Life has dealt an interesting last few weeks to say the least. When you’re used to having doctor’s appointments every weekend for about a month and a half, it can be difficult to adjust back to schedule. One of the things I’ve always liked with being in business for yourself and “being your own boss” so to speak, is–I get to make my own hours. However, I noticed in recent weeks I rarely take advantage of this occupation’s gem.
This Sunday, though, I’m taking full advantage of this perk, as I have a lot coming up here to plan for. We currently have aBack to Schoolsale running all month of September that we’re thinking of extending until the end of November. Along with that, we’re mapping out the lineup for 31Nightmares this year in October, as well as some other events.
This wall art design was inspired by a scene I witnessed a few weeks ago upon leaving the hospital as August drew to a close.
Hope you are all having an amazing weekend! Much more to come.
There is so much to tell you it definitely won’t all fit within the limitations of the “short but sweet” design of a SleepySundays post. Such rambling is better suited for a Daydreams Diary—so we plan on squeezing one of those in sometime soon.
While I juggle my folders with life, we’re busy planning for the upcoming 31Nightmares in October. I had to make a few business-related calls this weekend and while pulling some strings with friends, our October event somehow came up. One of my friends was exchanging some ideas with me and I stepped outside to notice a dense fog while we chatted. The subject of the paranormal came up and I’ve got to admit I got a little chill (a good chill) even though it was very hot & humid outside. All of that inspired this wall art design. Someone has already requested it for their living room. My resources are dwindling due to a few recent setbacks, but are slowly on the mend so I’m going to do my best to make that happen.
When was the last time you got caught in a dense fog? (Literal or figurative)
I’ve been messing around with tiles again this weekend for the upcoming summer season. The focus for this time of year seems to be a lot of florals and underwater or beach designs. There has been some talks of future projects on a much larger scale, but my physical health still isn’t quite cooperating. One day I feel somewhat back where I was before this all began, other days, I feel like I’m inches from death.
It’s been a rough week to say the least. I’m not sure if I’m going to keep this particular design yet, unless someone requests it. If they do I’ll come back, make improvements, and clean this up a bit more. For now I’m just trying to take it easy until I can get back on the road to optimal health. If there’s one thing I’ve learned going through this, it’s that people abandon you when you’re sick and you find out who your true friends are.
I’m still in good spirits, though. I owe that to the wonderful people that still are in my life. They’ve opened doors to many new possibilities. All I have to do now is walk through them. After years of getting my foot slammed in those doors, it’s a welcome change.
There’s an unmistakably strong sense of things turning upward for the first time in aeons.
