Franki Love

Franki Love is an extremely talented singer/songwriter that I’ve been following for some time now. I certainly have to mention that she is one of the most positive, warm, and loving people I’ve come to know on Twitter. She has a unique charm about her that you’ll notice right away. If you like what you hear, please give her a follow and check out her official website below.

31 Nightmares 2018: The 22nd

One of the lovely humans I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know these past few years of working in this industry is the beautiful and kind Chantal Laura Handley.

Chantal specializes in pastel art and horror icons. She sells her gorgeous artwork everywhere from Comic Con to RedBubble, and including her own website.

Here are some of my favorite pieces she’s created:

Chantal also has a countdown to Halloween of her own going on right now! Go check her out!

Daydreams Diary: Moving On

We’re slowly packing our things again for yet another move. The future is somewhat uncertain but we’ve been planning out how the next few months should go. We’re all so ready to leave this place, including my son. While I sorted out upcoming errands and filed away my folders for the night, I added this piece to the collection of prints coming up for sale as wall art and greeting cards. It actually started out as my son’s idea and it is brilliant. This one is another trip into the fantasy genre.

Why not escape far away for a while before we head someplace new and have to do all of that un-fun grown-up stuff. 🙂

Sleepy Sundays: Candy Store

Candy Store © 2017 Snapping Turtle Arts | cardcastlesinthesky.com

All October long along with my #31Nightmares there will be fall-themed designs like these popping up around CardCastles and in the gallery. (Which is now finally moving here to CardCastles instead of a separate site.)

This one was inspired by (love it or hate it) candy corn! There are some members of my household that love them. Do you?

What’s your favorite October treat?

Have a creepy Sunday!

31 Nightmares 2017: The 1st

A message from Daydreams:

Before you know it October is here. CardCastles has morphed and changed a lot in the last five years. What was once just my little wonderland come-to-life is now a team, a community, and a growing company’s merge. You will see some of those changes in the near future, but for now on this glorious fall first day of October, let’s kick off this celebratory tradition.

I am proud to say this is the third year of #31Nightmares. This is solely due to reader demand. We get messages year ‘round now looking forward to this event so we aim to dream up each year better than the last.

This year we will be talking about horror in video games, movies, television, and its influence on some music. We will also be exploring horror in sound, both in special effects, and soundtracks. There will be art, there will be writing. There will be tributes to many we lost in recent years that helped pave the way and even create new lanes for this genre.

We are glad to be doing it all with you for another year this 2017 and we hope you will stick around for all 31 days/nights.

Welcome to 31Nightmares 2017!

Introduction

For those of you new to the site or just plain new to this series,

here’s a little about how it got its start.

~>Dare to Dream.

This week during our opener, we will be diving into recent creations in the horror genre that have been stirring buzz in both video games and television.

One game this year that has stood out to us during my work with many different levels and mediums of the genre was The Evil Within 2.

We own the first installment in our collection here at home. My other half has beaten it to shreds. I’ve yet to go far in the campaign myself due to a busy schedule this year, but I certainly liked what I saw so far. This sequel looks promising and I have to admit I thought it was a genius marketing idea to drop the game on Friday the 13th this year in October. The bits of imagery in the story trailer featured below could remind you of something straight out of your nightmares.
