31 Nightmares 2018: The 31st

“Your beloved Daydreams isn’t here right now. She appears to be…all tied up. I just may get cozy here. Yes, yes…I could get used to this.”

– Nightmares

“When I came to my head was throbbing. Didn’t quite know what to make of it all. I was frightened—and cold. She was no longer here. Maybe that protection spell I cast on the gates finally took. I’m sure it won’t ward her off for long, though.”

-Daydreams

Well my horror-loving lovelies,

Another #31Nightmares has come to a close.

We were not so sure about doing this whole thing again this year. There is a whole fresh hell of a lot going on behind the scenes. These circumstances have made it difficult on this trip. I apologize for not keeping up our tradition of ending this thing with a video. Some personal matters kept that footage from ever being shot & uploaded.

Despite those somber notes, we hope you had fun through each of the 31 days and nights. Will we do this again next year? Well, you’ve managed to talk me into it each year again since we started back in 2015. We shall just have to wait and see.

Special Thanks

On behalf of Snapping Turtle Arts, I would like to thank Dean Kealy, Michael Patrick, and Bill Friday for joining us and lending their magnificent talents.

To the horror lovers here and overseas

We are so appreciative of all of you. Thank you for stopping in on each day! None of this would have gone down this year without your loving support and encouragement!

To my mentors

I saw you here lurking about. 😉 It means the world to me and my little family that some of you still care. We’ll try to put on a bigger show if we go at this thing again next year.

To our friends and family

Thank you for holding our hands when times get rough.

We love you ALL!

31 Nightmares 2018: The 25th

One of my all-time favorite horror movies turns 30 today.

You can read my family-related tales that have to do with Child’s Play here in:

Another Walk Down Memory Lane

There are so many years worth of memories attached to movies like this one. What are some of your favorites?

31 Nightmares 2018: The 24th

We’ve made room for another today as the horror world experienced more loss.

Although maybe not as well known as some of the previous people mentioned, this is definitely still worth highlighting.

Looking back, I find it so strange & very sad that a good number of people from Poltergeist have passed on. Perhaps there is some truth to that supposed curse.

Anniversaries

Today this modern classic of the horror genre turns 26 years old.

This was a favorite of myself and my cousin when we’d go through our tradition of horror movie marathons. (Which was pretty much every time we got together.) It’s still as eerie and wonderful now as it always was.

A few years back, when we spoke of getting together again, (both of us now much older) just what movie do you think was at the top of our list? Oh yes. & I plan on enjoying it again shortly.

One thing that always stuck with me? The story is first told to the main characters by a janitor in a lovable, sort of gossipy way—-a lot like in the schools I grew up in while tagging along with my grandmother at her own janitorial occupation.

Ghost stories were a favorite topic amongst these wonderful women who my grandmother befriended. It’s no wonder I grew up with a taste for such things.

Is there an urban legend or ghost story in your area? Care to share? 😁

Iconic Scenes

We’ve talked about a lot here so far, but not about some of the iconic scenes in the horror genre over the years. There are so many. One that stands out to me is that infamous scene in The Omen where the maid…well, you know.

I picked this one today because its stood the test of time. I still hear people talk about it to this day and they aren’t even from my generation. A whole new generation has discovered this modern classic.

What are some of your favorite iconic horror movie scenes?
