Around the Bend

Crawling inside
This ache, this sting
Shatter my consciousness
Trouble you bring

There’s a girl standing afar
A chill fills me near
Grip onto the nearest wall
Drown me in fear

Thoughts scream like banshees
I can’t take it anymore
Go away, leave me now!
Don’t forget to close the door!

Why is she there?
Is she around to warn me?
One can’t help wonder
Is this how it’s meant to be?

She moves closer quickly
My legs are glued to the beams
It’s safe to assume
I’m trapped in my dreams

      1. Oh yes…those kind of nightmares are terrible. I had ones where I realised I was dreaming. It was a dream I dreamt before…I knew what was going to happen next…but I couldn’t wake up.
Your nightmare must have beem really creepy.

  1. Dreams are the best fodder for writing. I have very odd dreams and nightmares and keep a ‘dream diary’ – it comes in really handy 😀

This is a great poem and interpretation of the dream 😉

    1. Ha! You do that too?! You’re a gal after my own heart, Dianne. I’ve been doing it since I was a child. My grandfather gave me the idea aeons ago. He has always been filled with little treasures about life.

Thank you for your kind words. This one was kind of a combination of several dreams and visions. It was one of those times where something popped into my head & it was so intense I had to release it.

  2. Good thing it’s a dream. 😉 Rich has bad dreams all the time. Mine are always happy and worthy of movies. I wonder why that is. I dreamed of my dad last night, and I never dream of him. He’s been gone for 27 years now. Funny thing dreams. Really nice poem, DD.

    1. Mine are often nightmares. I just thought I’d share some of my horror writing talents since I’ve done all this talk of being a horror writer – yet I have minimal horror-related pieces on here.

P.S. I always take dreams like that as a sign or a visit, if you will. Don’t get me started on that topic, though. People will probably deem me as a witch & burn me at the stake! 😛
