May Flowers

May Flowers
Spring is now in full swing. Many people are happier this time of year. I’m not a spring person, so forgive me. Although, I do love flowers.

Last month, my site’s stats noticeably took a dive. This was mostly due to my figurative plate being considerably full. I have not been able to post as frequently. During May, I plan to change that. I’m going to be doing some reorganizing here. I’ve also been planning to change my layout and add some pages for quite some time now. There just hasn’t been much time. Since most of you are quite familiar with this place by now, I’d like some of your feedback. I simply am trying to design an overall “theme” where everything flows with the name I have chosen. So, now the ball is in your court. 😉

Do you like my current theme? If I were to change things…would you be devastated? Would you cry if I got rid of the panda?

  1. I’m late to the decision-making process. 😉 I think you should choose a theme that makes you happy. I agree with Dianne that when others change their theme, it’s unfamiliar, and I don’t like it – BUT – I always get used to it, and it didn’t really matter. Some have actually turned out to be better. That’s why I think you should do what pleases you first.

As for the panda, it is definitely *you,* but all of your artwork is so distinctive, I think you could change your header often with your artwork and we would still know it’s you. I think a side bar would suit you. Unless I’m specifically looking for something, I rarely go to the bottom of your page, and you have really good stuff down there! 🙂

I don’t have a lot of options with my blog. I don’t want to change my branding. I’ve recently cleaned up my main page by removing a few things that I felt were unnecessary and moving awards to a separate page. I’ve change my “Susan” header three times now. I like that my sidebar is only on my home page, because I “hawk” my books there, and I don’t want that on every post I put up.

Your May flowers are lovely! 🙂

  2. I’d like to thank those of you that commented for your feedback. The overall consensus seems to be you like things the way they are for the most part. I will be looking into a solution to some photo display issues, as lovely Rara suggested – but things will mostly stay the same for now.
I appreciate each & every one of you. 😀 Your voice matters!

  3. I love the current theme. I get confused when people change their themes (I just realised this comment made me sound really dumb!)

The panda is great (and very cute) but in the end it’s your blog and you need to do what makes you happy 😉

  4. I do love the panda, but I’ve always thought a better theme for you is one where you could see lots of images at a glance. I don’t use one of those myself, but only because my images aren’t usually intended to be the yay-part of the post. I get to your posts via my email and when I land direct on the page, there’s no easy way to see if I missed one… and from certain angles of the page, you can’t tell what a bright little wonderland it is here. So I’d vote for a new theme, though if there’s anyway to keep the adorable panda that would be awesome. 🙂 At the end of the day, though, your blog is your blog. You should love your theme! Do you?

    1. You’re awesome, Rara. I knew I could count on you for an honest yet loving response. 😀
I have tried some of the photo/image-friendly themes but sadly they suppress the storytelling I do in some of my other posts. (I am a hybrid, after all.)
I need to find one that showcases both. Also, as my site has grown – I’m in need of a sidebar as opposed to all of my extra content jammed into the footer area. I have managed to find a few that work (Oxygen, Elegant Grunge, My Life..etc) None of them scream “me” as much as “Manifest” seems to, though. So, I’m torn.
It may just be the nuttiness in me that feels the need to change everything around once in a while. It’s part of my psycho-perfectionism. This is the insanity that comes pre-packaged in with my creativity.
      Sigh. *hugs*

I have planned to get rid of the panda & his cousins on some of my pages, though. That’s why I threw that question out there. I’m opting for an “Alice” sort of theme. Something dreamy & surreal-ish. I dunno, don’t mind me, I’m nuts.
